    Roll 43b Wylyton Hallmoot held there on the Thursday next after the feast of the ascension of the Lord in the thirty-third year of the Reign of King Henry the sixth after the conquest. [22nd May 1455] Surrendered To this Hallmoot came William Schakston and he surrendered into the hand of the lord one Messuage and x [10] acres of land, lately in the holding of Robert Ryder’, for which he customarily rendered [blank] a year. Therefore the bailiff was ordered to provide for the holding and nothing was given as heriot, which was only one capon. Sworn men John Yarwey the elder Robert Cook Randolph Bawdewyn John Redy John Yarwey the younger John Taylour John Salt John Roper Walter Yarwey John Flaunders John Tyler’ Nicholas Crewce They present that the tenement in which John Clerk lives has not been repaired and that the lord repaired the tenement for him before. One plea is with the lord’s council. And that the tenement in which Robert Partrych stays is ruined and in great need of repairs. Therefore the bailiff was ordered to take possession all the goods and chattels which he has within the demesne to provide sufficient security for making those repairs. Should be consulted Also John Stones complained that he does not have a barn within his holding. One plea was with the lord’s council for him that all the tenants say that no-one should put a tenant into a tenement for holding and servicing himself, without having a barn there. Also they present that Randolph Bawdewyn has not repaired his holding. Therefore he is ordered to put it right before the next under a penalty of xijd [12d] And that William Launcelyn is obliged to repair and make a malt-kiln in the tenement in which John Redy lives and for which the aforesaid William received xxs [20s] from Robert Redy for repairs to the same. One plea is with the aforesaid William. Penalty And that John Yarwey the Younger, John Morborn, Felecia Maryon, William Crewse, tenants of Acremannes, have stopped up water-courses against their holdings by the King’s Road, causing nuisance. Therefore they were ordered to put them right before the next Lete under penalties of xijd [12d] for each of them. And that William Couper has a stopped up water course against his holding. Therefore he is ordered to put it right before the next under the customary penalty. Taking land William Starlyng came to this Court and took one Messuage and x [10] acres of land from the lord, which formerly he held, to be held by himself and his wife according to the custom of the manor for the term of their lives and the life of whichever of them lives longest, rendering therefrom xs [10s] a year and for service to the lord King iijd and a half [3½d] [annotated, and he took iijd [3d]] and the aforesaid William is answerable for all the repairs of the said Messuage and land, and at the time of going out will be examined and will pay beforehand. And that the lord will provide timber, laths and withies for repairs as often as he makes them. And he took the oath and made fealty etc. And a request for the old timber from a building that has fallen down in the holding lately belonging to Robert Fesaunt was supported by the tenants at xijd [12d] and was delivered to Nicholas Cruce, who paid the above, for making one Swynsty therefrom under the bailiff’s supervision. Underwood, by John Clerk Underwood sold by John Clerk this year, iij [3] acres one rood and xviij [18] perches, value an acre [blank], as tithe j [1] rood xiiij [14] perches In Expenses of the Steward and other tenants vs ijd [5s 2d] Underwood by Gostwyk Underwood felled and sold and handed over to John Gostwyk this year, ij [2] acres and a half, one rood, xv [15] perches worth [blank] an acre, handed over by the view of the Steward for the repairs of a new building in Cardington half a rood rendered to John Yarwey the younger, half an acre to John Yarwey the elder, j [1] rood to John Tyler’, half a rood to John Norman, half a rood to John Salt, half a rood rendered for Wylynton mill, And one tenth [as tithe] j [1] rood v [5] perches and vij [7] feet.
