And that the Prior of Newnham [annotated 'has a day '], John ijd [2d] Frelove and Simon ijd [2d] King made default and therefore were amerced. Stray, one colt valued at iijs [3s] the bailiff is answerable Also they present that one colt aged three years valued at iijs [3s] was taken within the liberty of the lord as a stray about the feast of Saint Michael [September 29th] in the first year of the new reign [1413]. And a proclamation was made and none came. And it remains in the keeping of William Rydere, answerable to the lord. Amercement vijd [7d] And that the miller took [annotated 'and pledged'] iijd [3d] excess toll against the statute, therefore he is amerced. And that the tasters iiijd [4d] of ale have not kept their duties and owe work. Therefore they are amerced. Amercement iijd [3d] John Bande and John Warner, constables, present that Felicia Prentys lawfully called the hue on John iijd [3d] Crakewell, by the pledge of the constables. Therefore he is amerced Amercement xd [10d] William Ryder and Robert Myton, tasters of ale, present that Thomas ijd [2d] Rydere j [1], Felicia ijd [2d] Prentys j [1], John vjd [6d] Goffe constantly, brewed and sold ale and broke the assize. Therefore they are amerced. Heriot one ox valued at xijs [12s] the bailiff is answerable Also the aforesaid sworn men present that John Warner who held one Messuage and viij [8] acres of land according to the custom of the Manor from the Lord, closed his existence after the day of the last Court. After whose death a heriot of j [1] ox valued at xijs [12s] falls due to the lord. The bailiff is answerable. And Agnes, wife of the same John came to this Court and claimed to hold the said holding from the lord to carry on alone, according to the custom of the Manor. And it was granted to her. And she made fealty. Penalty Also they present that John Crakewell has j [1] grange and the end of one solar, [which are] ruined and defective. Therefore he was ordered to put them right before the next feast of St. Peter in Chains [August 1] under a penalty of half a mark [6s 8d]. Handing over of timber, a day, penalty The Keeper of ShyreWode was ordered to hand over to Richard Baudewene one foundation beam and vj [6] beams for repairing one grange, and to John Goffe iij [3] foundation beams for repairing one grange through the view of William Rydere the Reeve, just as was in the mandate of the Steward at the last Court. And they were ordered to put the said timber in the repairs of their buildings before the feast of St Peter in Chains [August 1] under a penalty for each of half a mark [6s 8d] Oath Richard Akyrman took the oath and was admitted into a tithing Amercement ijd [2d] demand John Goffe recognizes that he owes William Wryght iiijs viijd [4s 8d] for the value of one pig from the feast of St. Martin in the xiijo [13th] year of the reign of Henry iiij o [the fourth] and is amerced. And he made a plea of error. The xij [12] sworn men present that the constables, tithing men and tasters of ale presented well and faithfully and concealed nothing.
