A cottage in Clophill and the property as in BS 337; and Heath Close in Clophill (10 acres), heretofore in the occupation of Thomas Costing and now of Sarah Costing, widow; also a close in Impey Field, in the occupation of Thomas Peirson, containing 1 acre; and also 1/2 acre in Hard Meadow alias Head Meadow, with the river on one part; (which said property was bought by Samuel Carter, then of Sutton, yeoman, from Henry Kingsley of Hitchin, Hertfordshire, gentleman, and wife Jane, late Jane Nodes, spinster, by Lease and Release dated 12 and 13 July 1698).     Details given: -- also Dray Close alias Six Acres Close (formerly 3 closes, containing 6 acres), formerly in the occupation of Mary Howson, widow, and heretofore of Thomas Costin, and now of Michael Costin, next a close heretofore of Ralph Compton and late of Thomas Beaumont west, a close heretofore of said Earl and now of said Duke sometime in the occupation of Richard Reads north, and a common lane leading up to the hill east; -- also a toft on which a messuage called the 'House with the High Chimney' heretofore stood; -- barn or barns in or near the said close, abutting south on the common street, between messuage sometime of William Younge east, and sometime of Edward Park west; -- also a cottage in Clophill heretofore in the occupation of Elizabeth Burrall and now of Edward Hare, abutting north on a spinney of woodground called Appleborough, between Long Lane west and Church Field east; -- also a rood of land in Impie Field, abutting north on the highway from Clophill to Hawnes, with land of said Duke east; (which said last messuage and rood of land was purchased by John Carter of Robert Ravensdon senior and junior); -- and also a cottage in Clophill abutting west on Long Lane, with the land of Michael Cole gentleman on east, and that of Samuel Carter north; (which said messuage was purchased by Samuel Carter from Thomas Hawkins and wife Mary).
