    William Dring Harris of Humbershoe – he is a draper and lives at Markyate Street. On Wednesday 17 November he hung a pilot coat at his shop door. He missed it at 6.30pm. He noticed that the hook it hung on was bent down. PC Smith showed him the coat. It is the one he lost. George Odell of Humbershoe – he is a labourer and lives at Markyate Street. On Wednesday he was walking up the street with Alfred Gregory. When they got against Mouse’s he said he knew where there was a coat but he does not know whether he had it or not. Gregory did not say he was going to steal the coat. Henry Duck of Luton – he is an assistant to Mr Butcher the pawnbroker at Luton. On Tuesday 23 November Gergory pledged a coat at their shop in the name of William Smith of Caddington. Gregory said it was his own and he paid 10s for it. He lent Gregory 4s on it. Charles Smith of Caddington – he is a police constable at Caddington. On 18 November he received information that William Dring Harris had lost a coat. He found it at Mr Butcher’s. He apprehended Gregory who said he knew nothing about it. Alfred Gregory – he knows nothing about the coat and he never pawned it.
