Scope and Content
-- to joint use of daughters Elizabeth, Jane, Barbara and Lettice, for their maintenance until death or marriage, then to son John Lord St John and heirs in tail male: manor of Broughton (Huntingdonshire). (As J72). Reciting: Conveyance (Lease and Release) 29 January 1724, by Dame Mary Crowley (mother of testator) to trustees, and Settlement of estate on testator after her mother’s death, 6 November 1727.
-- to son John Lord St John, 20 guineas for mourning.
-- to daughter in law Susanna Louisa Lady St John, and to her daughter if called by testator’s Christian name, diamond earrings.
-- to son in law Thomas Erle Drax and daughter Mary his wife, 20 guineas for mourning, 20 guineas for mourning to St Andrew St John and wife, Robert Cotton Trefusis and wife Ann (her daughter), brother in law Henry St. John.
-- bequests of rings, gold watch, diamond stayhook, to daughters Elizabeth and Jane.
-- to Henry St. John, Thomas Erle Drax and Robert Cotton Trefusis,: messuages in Cheapside and Bow Lane, London, in trust for daughters Elizabeth, Jane and Lettice while unmarried, for £1000 dowery for each.
-- £2000 bequeathed by her sister Dame Ann Pile to be given as follows: £700 plus interest to Ambrose St. John at 21 years, £1300 to the unmarried daughters, who are made executors.
Codicil 16 August 1764: Two one eighth parts of estates devised by her late husband John Lord St. John and purchased by her from her son and daughter, to the three trustees for uses as estate in City of London.
Codicil 5 February 1765: revoking legacy of £1000 to daughter Barbara, since she has received this sum as marriage portion on marriage to Earl of Coventry.
Codicil 4 July 1765: to son Ambrose £600, and one eighth part in messuage and lands as in codicil (i), instead of £700.
