- Scope and ContentMiss Charlotte Jackson came the other day in a most beautiful linen gown (chintz?), 27s., bought at your linen-draper's Hussey - my Mary asks you to get enough for her & bring, with green gimp or fringe to trim cuffs, round neck, and straight down before. Fanny says, if silk for shoes not sent, she will have them plain; there won't be time to work them & send them to be made before the Races. Please leave stuff at Millmer's & tell him Fanny would have them not so round at the toe as the last, nor the roses so deep-coloured; also as they are to dance in, be careful they keep up well behind. Sophia & Mary also want a pair - Mary wants very low Italian heels. They must be here by 25th. Disappointed with taffeta, very yellow & flimsy & only 15 yards. (petticoat had to be pieced with something else). Gauze trimming little worn. P.S. Things received - tea, gloves. Fanny has trimmed hat for me - please send more ribbon. Should like 1 lb. bark (better than in country).
