    Ellen Amelia Brown: on 4 August she was standing against the ribbon weavers in Dallow Meadows. She felt someone take her watch. She turned and saw a man standing close to her and caught hold of his sleeve. She called out “stop that man he has my watch” and saw him into the custody of the police. Edith Ewing: she saw the prisoner in the Dallow Meadow take the watch from the last witness. She saw the prisoners hand as it was going away. Adam Cuthbertson: on 4 August he was in Dallow Meadows and heard Miss Brown call out that her watch had been stolen. He saw the prisoner start to run and raced after him. He held the prisoner until the police came. He saw a watch picked up which Miss Brown identified as hers. Henry Richardson: on the day in question he was at Dallow Meadow and saw the prisoner in the custody of the police. He picked up a watch close to the place where the constable took the man. Samuel Hart: on 4 August he was on duty at the Temperance fete at Dallow Meadows. He called someone call out “stop thief” and saw the prisoner pushing through the crowd. The prisoner was stopped by Cuthbertson. Richardson came up and gave him the watch. Statement of the accused: nothing to say.
