    George Murphy of Milton Bryan, groom – he knows Josiah Spacey by sight. On Sunday 10 August between 12 and 1pm he was in the kitchen garden of the manor house by the side of the highway … [description of what he saw looking over the hedge] George Edmunds, police constable stationed at Potsgrove – on 26 August he apprehended Spacey on this charge on a warrant. Spacey said “I was doing nothing only tying up her shoelace”. Reuben Creamer of Milton Bryan, labourer – he married the mother of the child which is an illegitimate child. Her name is Jane Meakins. She was 5 years old on 3rd February. She always wears a pair of buttoned boots. Josiah otherwise Joseph Spacey - does not wish to say anything.
