    John Evans, one of the relieving officers of the Biggleswade Union – on 22 May 1869 Mary Woods, wife of James Woods was relieved by him, being destitute with her two children William aged 12 years and Elizabeth aged 8 years. He laid an information on oath before the Rev W.C.Bidwell on 4 August 1869. The prisoner is the same person that he appeared against before for desertion of his family. With the exception of an interval of a few weeks the prisoner’s wife and family have been chargeable to the common fund of the Biggleswade Union from 1869 to the present time. Mark William Woods of Blunham – James Woods is his father. He had not seen his father for 3 or 4 years until he came home about a fortnight ago. His father has not maintained him while he was away. He did not know his father was going to leave and did not know where he was. He was kept by the parish and so were his mother and sister.
