  • Scope and Content
Removal Order. Examination of Joseph Robinson: I am of the age of 67 years or thereabouts. I have never lived anywhere as a yearly servant, was never boubnd apprentice or did any act whatever to my knowledge to gain a settlement in my own right. My father died about 15 years ago and at that he belonged to the parish of Sharnbrook in Bedfordshire where he gained a settlement by being bound apprentice to a Mr Newton who then resided in that parish and carried on the business of a woolcomber. I saw the Indenture by which my father was so bound apprentice about 20 years ago, but it has since been lost. My said father from about two years previous to his decease received an allowance of two shillings and six pence a week from the parish officers of the said parish of Sharnbrook as one of its parishioners and after his death my mother received relief from that parish as his widow and tree different occasions I myself made applicationto the said parish officers for relief on each of which they acknowledged me as belonging to their parish and gave me the relief I required. About 17 years agoI was lawfully married my banns in the parish church of Banbury in Oxfordshire to Elizabeth my present wife who is now with myself chargeable to the parish of West Ham aforesaid.
