- Scope and ContentRemoval Order. Certificate of chargeability from 18th March 1843. Examinations taken by Samuel Wing, Clerk to the Bedford Union: I also produce a book containing the admission and discharges of persons admitted to and discharged from the Bedford House of Industry from which it appears that the said Joseph Goodman was on 13th January 1829 placed to the charge of the parish of St Paul, and that on the 5th May in the same year Sarah Goodman and the said Joseph Goodman were discharged from the House of Industry from the amount of the said parsih of St Paul. The book I now produce was placed in my custody by the Directors of the poor withing the Town of Bedford on the formation of the Bedford Union. Examination of Sarah Wilmer: In the year 1828 I being then a single woman and an inhabitant of the parish of St Paul Bedford (to which parish I had then lately been removed by an order of Justices from the parish of Odell in the County of Bedford) and was by the direction of the overseers of the poor of the Parish of St Paul places in the House of Industry at Bedford, and on the 13th January 1829 I was delivered of a male bastard child in the House of Industry. The child was baptised there by the name of Joseph, and I and my said child were chargeable to the parish of St paul in the said House of Industry. until the 5th May following. My son Joseph is the Joseph Goodman mentioned in the certificate now produced by Mr Wing. My said son has done no act to gain a settlement in his own right. I, (by my then name of Sarah goodman) and my said son Joseph goodman are the persons mentioned as being in and discharged from the House of Industry in the oths of January and May 1829.
