George Albone of Arlesey, labourer – on the morning of June 18 he was with Peter Kitchiner. They were together from 10pm until 2am. They went up the street and left the 3 prisoners behind. Peter Kitchiner, Rowlett and himself went to the hut on the railway. They stopped there some time. After about an hour Levitt came in with some fowls. Bath and Kitchiner came in after. He saw 2 pigeons in Bath’s hands. Bath suggested going and fetching some geese. Rowlett said he thought Bath had done plenty. Peter Kitchener and himself then left. He gave information to PC Tomlinson. George Case of Henlow, police constable – from information received he went with PC Tomlinson to the G.N.Railway on 18 June. Bath and Levitt were taken into custody on a charge of fowl stealing and went to the hut to fetch their clothes. Levitt gave Tomlinson the key of a tool chest. In that chest was a basket which Levitt said was his and in the basket were the 2 pigeons now produced. Neither of the prisoners said anything about them. William Levitt, William Barth and Henry Kitchiner – all have nothing to say.
