- Scope and ContentGeorge Pratt of Kempston, labourer – 3 weeks ago he left a fork in a field of George Hull at Clapham. The fork produced is the one he left. He has not seen it since until this morning. Humphrey Cotton of Clapham, labourer – he bought the fork from Gore on 5 October in George Hull’s field at Clapham. He paid half a crown. Gore said he gave 3s 6d for it. He gave the fork up to PC Stearn. Robert King Stearn, police constable – he received the fork produced from Humphrey Cotton. Samuel Kitchener, police constable – he apprehended Gore at Wellingborough (Northants) on 9 October. He charged Gore with stealing it from George Pratt at Clapham. Gore said “I know I have done wrong. I took the fork and sold it”. William Gore – he knows he has done wrong and is very sorry for it. He had a little beer and should not have done it.
