Part transcript and cassette tapes of original detailed war diaries of Mr. Excell's father, Frederick William Excell, a private in the Machine Gun Corps before joining the 2nd Battalion Bedfordshire Regiment in February 1915. He was born on 17 January 1891, enlisted on 1 September 1914, awarded the Military Medal on 13 November 1916, captured at Cambrai 2 October 1918 and returned to England on 25 December 1918.
