- Scope and ContentWilliam Asbury of Harlington, innkeeper - on Tuesday 28 March Kent called at his house and asked if his saw wanted sharpening. He gave it to him to sharpen. He was to pay Kent 4d. Kent took the saw away and did not bring it back. The value of the saw is 2s 6d. William Harris of Sharpenhoe, labourer - on Tuesday night Kent came to his house, said he was hard up and asked him to buy a saw. He did not buy it then. Kent left the saw with him and he gave him a shilling for it. Kent said it cost him 3 half crowns. The next day Kent came and swapped the saw for another. He gave the saw produced to PC Busby. James Busby, police constable stationed at Harlington - from information received he went in search of Kent. He took him at Campton and charged him with selling a saw belonging to William Asbury. Kent said "that’s quite right I did". He received the saw from William Harris. William Charles Kent - he has nothing to say other than that he swapped it away.
