Thomas Ruffhead, police constable stationed at Leighton Buzzard – about 7.30pm he received information from Tansley that a man had left the Boot with his earrings. About 8pm he went with Tansley to the Buffalo where they found Atkins. Tansley pointed him out as the man who had taken his earrings. There were 6 or 8 more men there.
