Once inside he found the paddock and chains to the gate gone, as well as 8 keys. He found further roller blinds missing. William Turney: son of Richard. He had passed the lodge on 11 December and saw nothing to draw his attention. On the 12 December, he saw the garden gate open and the front door partly open. He went and told his father. William Abrahams: the prisoner had left his employment without consent on 12 December. He went to search for him in Dunstable and met him between Redbourne and Market Street. The prisoner was carrying a basket. He handed Weston and the basket over to PC Ruffhead. Thomas Ruffhead: he received the basket from Mr Abrahams and the blinds and other things were in the basket. The prisoner said he had found the blinds on a hedge and the lock and chain had been taken from a gate. Statement of the accused – John Weston: nothing to say.
