Extract from the will of Lovett Crompton of Inner Temple [London], esquire in PCC: - devising some Bedfordshire and all Staffordshire real estate to his brother John; - the testator owed £600 to Sir John Witterwronge and he directed his brother John to sell the Staffordshire estate to redeem the debt and to pay the legacies owed to his brothers and sisters under the will of his father [R6/5/8/22] - devising estates at Oakley and Bedford, Saint Mary to his mother Elizabeth for sale “and dispose of the Money arising by the sale thereof during her Life to my Brothers and Sisters or some of them such as shall be most dutiful to her”; - probate on 2 April 1685; - extracted on 24 July 1753
