    Deed poll of Sir William Boteler of Biddenham, sole surviving Feoffee of the land of the former Cauldwell Priory, Bedford stating that in pursuance of a covenant in an indenture of 26 December 1649 between (1) himself and Humfrey Newton of Lincolns Inn [Middlesex], gentleman, William Doughty of Lincolns Inn, gentleman and Thomas Doughty, gentleman and (2) Charles Auncell of Ickleford [Hertfordshire], gentleman, Richard Auncell of Bedford, gentleman, Henry Whyte the younger of Bedford, tanner, John White and John White the elder of Bedford, tanner he had granted Rye Close lying against Cauldwell Wall, Bedford, Saint Mary containing 26 acres, the inheritance of Lewis Leigh, deceased to (2); witnessed by H. Newton and H. Empson. Note – despite the disparity in dates the recited indenture appears to be R6/5/8/9
