Order suspended as Thomas Sykes unable to travel due to sickness and infirmity. Reported that Thomas Sykes had died but the order still stood for his widow Margaret Sykes. Examination of Thomas Sykes at present residing in the parish of Yielden in the County of Bedford: I am about 57 years of age and was born in the parish of Dean in the County of Bedford. My father Thomas Sykes was a settled inhabitant of Dean and gained his settlement there by the possession of an estate under the will of my grandfather Thomas Sykes consisting of a mill, house and about 4 acres of pasture land situated at Dean aforesaid, in which parish my father resided for many years. A little before Old Michaelmas Day in about the year 1802 I let myself to Mr Charles Collett of the parish of Dean, farmer, as a servant in husbandry for one year from the Michaelmas Day ensuing at the wages of seven pounds and my board and lodging. I entered Mr Collett's service as agreed and continued in the same for one whole year all the time residing in my Master's house in the said parish of Dean. At the expiration of my first years service I relet myself to Mr Collett until the next ensuing Old Michaelmas Day at the advanced wages of eight pounds including my board and lodging and remained in his service for another year. I was marrie din the parish church of Yielden by Banns in or about the year 1810 to Margaret Eades, spinster, my present wife. After I was married I came and resided in Yielden abd have been relieved by the parish officers of Dean on various occasions whilst residing at Yielden. I have done no act since to gain a settlement elsewhere. I am now ill and confined to my bed and am actually chargeable to the parish of Yielden in the County of Bedford.
