  • Title
Household account-book, Bedfordshire and Warwick, detailed, 45 pages. This book bears a note signed "Montagu Burgoyne, 1810" to the effect that the writer obtained it from "Mr Nixon of Coventry into whose possesssion it had acidentally fallen", and it was kept by Lady Anne Burgoyne, widow of the 2nd baronet, Sir Roger Burgoyne. The writer of the note gives Lady Anne Burgoyne's epitaph at Wroxall, Warwickshire, where (he states) the family had property from the Dissolution of the monasteries till circa 1714. There are various references in the accounts to Birmingham and to Warwick. The entry for May 30th 1682 "I began my journey into "Bedfordshire to Sutton" is followed by several Bedfordshire references: there are others to sending money to Sutton to keep the monument clear (July 1681) and sending letters to Sutton (December 1683.) Two rough sketches of wroxall Abbey and Honiley Hall, Warwickshire., possibly by Montagu Burgoyne, are bound into the volume.
