  • Scope and Content
Examination of Mary Darrington, widow residing in Eaton Socon as to the settlement of Samuel Darrington , George Darrington and Sarah Darrington. The paupers Samuel Darrington , George Darrington and Sarah Darrington are my grandchildren. They are the children of my son William Darrington and Sarah his wife. Samuel was born at Roxton, George was born at Cambridge and Sarah was born at Cambridge too. My son William Darrington was born at the parish of Roxton, he never to my knowledge did any act to gain a settlement in his own right. My late husband belonged to the parish of Roxton at the time of the bitrth of my son and never gained any other settlement to my knowledge. My husband died six years ago last Whit Sunday at Roxton. Two or three years after his death I went to live in the parish of Eaton Socon where I have resided ever since. From that time to the present I have been maintained in the parish of Eaton Socon at the expense of the parish of Roxton. My son was married at Eaton Socon Church to his present wife - all the three paupers were born since that marriage.
