Letter from Samuel Whitbread to Joseph Eade saying that he has given the printer the manuscript of Mr Serjeant Frere's first opening and he must now have the manuscript of the evidence offered at that trial, for which he had often asked. He needs all the written documents which were proved during the trial. Wth a reply from Joseph Eade: he would have provided the manuscript if he had known of Samuel Whitbread's request for it, although it has never been in his possession. He has written to Mr Hogarth to send it immediately. He encloses all the documents proved in the second trial, and has provided Mr Gurney with copies, with information about where to apply for the others. He had not known that Samuel Whitbread intended to print an account of the trial. He has expended £400 on the conduct of the matter, and would like to receive part of it.
