  • Date free text
    26 November 1863
  • Production date
    From: 1863 To: 1863
  • Scope and Content
Lady Payne wished to know if 80 hogsheads of sugar would make a profit: ''no West India Estate can pay that does not produce over 100 hogsheads''. Rise in price of sugar puzzling; suggested causes 1) shortfall in next year's crop, 2) partial failure of sugar beet crop in France, 3) large demand from America. Price still rising. Thanks Sir Coventry and Lady Payne for present of game.
