- Scope and ContentOn Monday 25 September he attended a sale by auction of farming stock and effects at a house called the Highlands in the parish of Northill as assistant to Mr Conder the auctioneer. He was employed to look after the different lots sold. On Wednesday evening he was informed by Mr Condor that the articles comprising Lot 24 had been lost or stolen and he would be called upon to make them good. From information he received he went last night to the house of Samuel Coleman at Beeston, who had purchased some of the lots at the sale. Coleman said he was just the man he wanted to see. He immediately went and fetched all the articles that had been lost (except the ½ pint pot) out of his barn. He took the things to Mr Conder’s. He asked Coleman how he came by them. Coleman said Dines put them into his cart on Mornday evening after the sale. After the lot was knocked down to Marston he set aside all the articles in the appropriate place.
