Letter from Ernest Woodward, on army service with BEF [British Expededitionary Force], to sister Margaret at 20 Long Row, Pavenham. Apparent that the allotment from pay is causing ill-feeling. Cannot understand it. Let me know what you have drawn for me up to the end of May. Amy has practically accused me of making a fool of you. I assure you this is not so. Very noisy and unpleasant just now. Hope mother is improving so you can resume work. What has happened to your young man, deserted you or what? Beautiful weather here. War will soon finish. Gas is the worst enemy, but still that cannot beat us.
