  • Scope and Content
David Waldock: on the evening of 6 April, he passed the field of his uncle Henry Waldock in Langford. He saw the prisoner at the potato pit and he was stooping down and had his hand in the pit. The prisoner turned and saw Waldock, jumped up, picked up a bag and ran away. He pursued him and caught him. He asked the prisoner what he had in the bag and was told some potatoes. They were the same type of potatoes as in his uncle’s pit. He scolded the prisoner and made him take the potatoes back and cover them up again. He then went on his way but when he looked back he saw the prisoner returning to the pit. He went back about 5 minutes later and saw the prisoner going away from the pit again. He again went after him and caught him. He took his bag and found it to contain potatoes. He took the potatoes but let Paternoster go.
