Z1477/1/13 – 14 and Z1477/2/3-4].States that diary entries are brief and factual so he is also sending some letters which occasionally include a sketch map of activities. Offers in addition a volume of newspaper cuttings kept by his grandmother, the 1898 Almanac of the 8th Hussars, a booklet of Irish Military Manouvres 1899 and an account of Harold Robert Jones of his activities in the Hampshire Regiment operating as mounted infantry. Letters from PAT Jones are signed Phil, letters from H R Jones are signed Pol. Dar refers to their brother Frederick Darcy Jones and Dumps to their sister Dorothy. The family name up to 1908 was Jones – my grandmother added Griffith which was the Christian name of he husband.
