- TitleLetter from John Cameron, Lieutenant, R.E.M. Regiment, Portsmouth, to his father, John Cameron, esq., Drimnasallie, Fort William, Scotland. "It is now above twelve month since I left Scotland and never had the pleasure of hearing from you but once during that time..." Expects father has heard of row in London about Sir Francis Burdett, the Regiment received orders to march from Silver Hill to Seven Oaks about thirty miles away, "we remain there better than fortnight expecting every moment to march into London, but fortunately the stir was getting less we immediately march back to Silver Hill again." Not another place in England equal to the hard duty at Portsmouth. Another Cameron has joined the regiment lately.
