- Scope and ContentGeorge Farr: bought a pig on the 3 December. He killed it and hung it in his kitchen. John Hatton was employed by him and saw him hang the pig in the kitchen. The pig was still there when Farr went to bed, but the next morning he found part of the pig missing. He informed the police and went with the constable to search Hatton’s house. The found a quantity of pork in the barn which compared with what remained at Farr's house. Reuben Pepper: he went with George Farr to search the house and premises of John Hatton at Southill. On the floor of the barn he found a quantity of pork. He believed the quantity of pork found to weigh approximately 70 pounds and be worth about 30 shillings. On being told of the charge, the prisoner said "I wish some one had cut my hands off before I did it."
