  • Scope and Content
Details given by T Forman: He had been asked to execute an assignment of lease at the offices in Lyons Inn of Mr William Henry Pullen for Mr Lawrence Williams, Attorney, Cursitor Street, Chancery Lane. T Forman would receive £3. When he arrived, Mr Williams was not ready 'because some person from Bedford was expected'. T Forman was asked to return next morning, and did so, executing the assignment as the real and bona fide purchaser for the sum of £10. An order was written giving permission to carry away from the estate, said to be Headley or Hardwick, but in fact the land of one Baker, a bankrupt, pretended to be sold by Baker's assignee. One of them was John Willoughby. The 'diabolical scheme' of those involved was to defraud Baker's creditors.
