    John King: he occupied a loft on the premises of James Yerrill. He used the loft of onions. On 10 September he had six sacks of onions under the hovel in the yard. On 12 September Jonathan Baldwin came to his house and said he had the onions and would return them if he would not prosecute. The next day, 5 sacks had been returned to the yard. Baldwin asked if this was ok and was told by King a sack was missing. When Baldwin had come to him the previous day, King had said he would forgive him if he would bring the onions back. Jeeves was in his employment but Baldwin was not. Frederick Daniels: was in the employment of John King putting onions up into the loft. When he left the yard there were 6 sacks of onions under the hovel in the yard. Jonathan Baldwin's cart was in the yard. On returning later that evening, he looked under the hovel and found only 3 and a half sacks. At that time, Baldwin & Jeeves came out of Yerrill's house. Daniels asked Jeeves if had had put the onions up into the loft. Jeeves said he had lifted 2 and a half sacks but did not know how to sort them. Daniels went into the loft to where Jeeves said the sacks were, but found only a few bushels and not the quantity missed. He told his master. Next day he was approached by Baldwin, with Jeeves, who said they would return the onions. Next morning 5 sacks had been returned under the hovel. John Daniels: at the time the onions went missing he saw John Baldwin in his cart in Girtford. He had some sacks full of something. Sophia Yerrill: her husband kept a beer shop in Girtford. John King occupied a loft in the yard, for the purpose of keeping onions. Six weeks or 2 months previous she had seen Christopher Jeeves & Jonathan Baldwin in the yard together. She saw them put a sack full of something into a cart and Baldwin and the cart left the yard.
