    He was born in St Cuthbert, Bedford. He is 45 years of age. At the age of 14 he was placed out apprentice by the Trustees of Harpurs Charity to William Brown of Cardington, shoemaker, by Indenture for seven years. He served the whole of his apprenticeship with his master in Cardington and received the benefaction from the trustees when out of his time. On 22nd April 1794 he was married to his present wife Ann at St Peter, Bedford. At Midsummer 1975 he hired of Edward Jones a house in St Cuthbert, Bedford at the rent of two guineas and a half per annum. He was assessed and paid poor and other rates for the same. he has ever since rented a house in St Cuthbert and has been assessed and paid the poor rates for the same, but he has never rented ten pounds a year. He has five children now living - Thomas aged 19 years, John aged 16, William aged 12, Ann aged 7 and Augusta aged 5. His son Thomas lived with him in St Cuthbert until he was 15 years of age when he enlisted into the Bedfordshire Militia abd aferwards volunteered into the 95th Regiment of Foot and is now abroad. In June or July 1812 Thomas was married at St Cuthbert to Mary Perkins who is now living in St Cuthbert.
