- Scope and ContentHe is about 30 years of age, was born in Hawnes [Haynes] in the County of Bedford. When he was about 14 years of age he went out to service and lived in several places. At Michaelmas 1800 he let himself for a year to Henry Peacock the elder of Wilshamstead, farmer, at the wages of three pounds ten shillings. He continued in Mr Peacocks service without any interruption until Michaelmas 1802, his wages for the last year were five pounds and he received the whole of his wages. At Michaelmas 1802 he let himself to Abraham Burr of Wilshamstead for a year at six pounds wages and continued in that service the whole of the year and received the whole of his wages. He has never done at any time since any act to the best of his knowledge or belief to gain a settlement. He was married to his now wife Sarah at the parish church of Hythe in the County of Kent in August 1808 by whom he has three children namely Thomas aged three years, William aged one year and a half old and a daughter born the 20th December last not yet baptised.
