    Joshua Parsons: keeper of the Kings Arms in Dunstable and the prisoner was his servant. On 21 October he came downstairs to find the prisoner had left the house. Soon after his wife told him she had lost her shawl. Parsons told Constable Sharpe and they went in the search of the prisoner. He met her at the Park Gates near Woburn. Sharpe took a bundle from the prisoner. Maudlin Parsons: wife of Joshua. On 21 October her husband told her that the prisoner had absconded. Maudlin Parsons missed a shawl and flannel petticoat. She identified these when showed them again by Sharpe. Sharpe also produced 2 pocket handkerchiefs, a habit shirt, a pair of stockings, an apron and a black skirt, all which she identified as property of her husband. Ann Sharpe: wife of Cornelius Sharpe, police constable. She searched the prisoner and found a flannel petticoat, pocket handkerchief, an apron and a black skirt. She showed them to Mrs Parsons who identified them as her husband’s property. Cornelius Sharpe: We went Joshua Parsons towards Woburn where they overtook the prisoner against the Park Gates. She had a bundle. He took the bundle from her and took her into custody. The shawl, habit shirt, stockings and a handkerchief were in the bundle. A flannel petticoat, handkerchief, skirt and apron were found by his wife. When charged, the prisoner said she did not know what made her do it.
