- Scope and ContentHe is 46 years of age, born in the parish of Thingdon [Finedon] in the County of Northampton where his father John Corby then resided. At the age of 14 years he was bound apprentice by Indenture for four years to Thomas Cross of Kettering, County of Northampton, whitesmith. He served nearly half his time with his master at Kettering an the remainder with his father at Burton in the County of Northampton with his masters consent. About 1788 he went into business for himself and rented a house at Burton aforesaid of five pounds ayea and paid rates for the same and his name was in the rate books. He continued in that house for two years paying the rent and taxes for the same. He has been relieved by the said parish of Burton. His father was a certificated man from Bozeat to Barton in the County of Northampton. He has since worked for different persons in several places but has not done any other act whereby to gain a settlement in his own right. He was married to his now wife Elizabeth about 14 years ago, by whom he has one duaghter named Sarah aged 13 years who has not done any act to gain a settlement in her own right.
