  • Scope and Content
    He is about 30 years of age, he is the natural son of John Brooks late of Biddenham, deceased and Ann Panter, spinster of Kempston. He was born in Kempston. He was placed out apprentice by his said reputed father when he was about 12 years of age to Thomas Fowler of St Luke, Middlesex, tailor, for eight years by Indenture. He continued with his master in the same parish for one year and three quarters when his master consented to part with him and he came and lived in Bedford with his mother who was then married to Samuel Hodgkin of St Peter, labourer. He continued til he was 17 years of age when he enlisted for a soldier in the 86th Regiment of Foot and served as a Private abroad and at home for ten years. He was discharged for having fits. He has bnot done any other act to gain a settlement in his own right at any time since. He was married March 3rd at St Peter, Bedford to Elizabeth Britain.
