- Scope and ContentSamuel Heley - he was going to Thomas Dyer's on Saturday night after a loaf of bread. As he was crossing the road on to the the common a woman passed by him on the High Road. When he was going home he found a duck and a half just behind the tree below Master Pearson's. He took it home. Just as he got in the yard his landlady said to him "John, what o'clock is it?" (she always calls him John although his name is Samuel). He told her about 11. He went in and went to bed and did not go out again until between 9 and 10am the next morning when he went to Woodcraft's house. George Woodcraft - he got up on Sunday morning about 7am and found two and a half ducks in the ditch in Cranfield Lane. He took them home. They were tucked in some nettles. They were picked with their heads and legs on and insides in. He took them home, took their insides out and cut their heads off. He was at home about 6pm on Saturday and never went out again until Sunday morning except into his garden.
