- Scope and ContentHe was born in Stanford in the parish of Southill, County of Bedford. He is about 25 years of age. At the age of 13 or thereabouts he let himself to Mr Snitch of Southill, butcher, he stayed with him two years. He then let himself at Michaelmas 1801 to Edward White of Ickwell in the parish of Northill, butcher for a year at the wages of two guineas. He stayed that year and the whole of the next with Mr White as a hired servant and that he had three guineas for the last years wages. At Michaelmas 1803 he let himself to Mr Thomas Swannell of the parish of St Mary, Bedford, butcher for a year at the wages of seven pounds. He went to his master about two days after Michaelmas 1803 and stayed with him til Michaelmas Day 1804 when he received the whole of his wages. He let himself to Mr Swannell about a month before Michaelmas 1803. He was married at the parish church of Henlow in the said County about Christmas 1807 to his now wife Elizabeth formerly Elizabeth Allen, by whom he has two children, namely Rebecca aged four years last midsummer and William aged two years. He has not done any other act to the best of his knowledge to gain a settlement.
