Scope and Content
“Work to me is the salt of life and I often feel when I get right down to self analysis that it means more to me than my wife and children which are the most dear things on earth.” Has done 1500 miles per month by rail since Christmas. Went to Nagpur Central Provinces hunting for manganese. Went after sugar cane to the Nepaul border, and his firm has taken over a going concern, a sugar factory. Is going up to coal fields to confer with agents regarding possibility of holding water in the Monsoons. However, has great faith in our large electrical installation and the beautiful pumps. “That was my ‘magnum opus’ during the war conversion from steam to electricity”. “Your last letter to me was written just before Daisy died . . . . It has been a sad blow to Teddy They meant such a lot to each other . . .” . . .”The political situation is much easier, but ‘tis by no means dead, and I look for a recurrence of the troubles when Ghandi is released”. Sends his regards to Miss Reid,
