- Scope and ContentJohn Cleveland in 1772, was bound apprentice by indentures for seven years to Richard Helps, St. Michael’s parish, Gloucester, woolcomber and woolstapler, and completed his apprenticeship. In 1786 he married Sarah at St. Mary’s, Bedford, and at the time of his examination had five children; John, aged about nine years, Mary, aged about seven years, Elizabeth, almost six years old, Charles, aged about five years and Thomas, aged about two and a half years.
