- Scope and ContentJames Skinner: on the evening of 16 September he was watching his father's onions in his allotment field in Eaton Socon. He saw John Staughton come and take some out of the rows. The onions had been plucked out of the ground and left to dry. The prisoner put them in his pocket and went toward the road. When he came close to the gate Skinner called to him and told him to bring the onions back. He said had no onions. An onion dropped from his pocket whilst they were talking. Skinner felt round Staughton’s pockets and found the onions he had taken. There was between a quarter and half a peck. The prisoner walked away with them. Charles Dale: apprehended the prisoner on a warrant for stealing Samuel Skinner's onions. Staughton said he had taken a few.
