- Scope and ContentIn about 1770 let himself to Edward Wells of St. Paul’s, baker, for one year for wages of £6. He continued in this service for another nine months and received wages accordingly. After this service he rented a house in Whitehorse Street (St. Paul’s) and paid Poor Rates. For the last six years prior to his examination, he lived in a house and garden rented from Mrs. Estwick at £5 yearly rent. His mother-in-law Hannah Covington lived here with him and his wife, Elizabeth, who he married in 1773.
