About 1782, Benjamin let himself to William Harris of St. Paul’s, baker, for one year for £4 and then another year for £5. At Christmas 1791 he hired from William Graham of Petticoat Lane, Whitechapel, Baker, a house, oven and bakehouse in Cable Street, Princess Square, Ratcliffe Highway, at a yearly rent of £16. He only lived here for six months and gave it up to Mr. Farringdon, the landlord, of Virginia Street, Wapping, Gent. Mr. Graham only charged him three months rent. Also in 1791 he was married in the parish church of Islington, Middlesex, to Ann Dufrees and had one child Sarah, aged about 13 months.
