- Scope and ContentThomas Barnes, about 1782, was bound apprentice by Bedford Charity to Josiah Ison of Baldock as a Breeches maker for a term of seven years. He completed the seven years and received the Benefaction from Bedford Charity. About 1789, he hired from his father John Barnes, a house in St. John’s parish at a rent of £1.10s and there for about two and a half years, and paid Poor Rates and Highway Rates to the Overseers of St. John’s in respect of this house. In 1791 he married Elizabeth at the parish church of Campton, Beds.
