  • Date free text
    8 April 1926
  • Production date
    From: 1926 To: 1926
  • Scope and Content
“When I got back to Bedford on Tuesday I found that Ethel [Mary Ethel Langley, writer's daughter?]and Kathleen [Kathleen Dora Langley, writer's daughter] had come independently to the same conclusion as I had myself, that the only thing to be done was for Mary Ann and Sarah to give up business which they are obviously unfitted to carry on, to sell the house and property and come and live with me at Bedford. They have both agreed to this and I have consulted a solicitor as to the disposal of the property. The girls are coming over to help clear up. As the removal of Mary Ann and Sarah from Buckden is likely to affect your interests adversely, I am sending you five shillings from my private means for the first week and hope to continue the same for a month or so. I can only do this by the Sale of mathematical instruments and books and by severe economy”.
