    I am about 41 years of age. A few days before Old Michaelmas 1811 I let myself as a general servant tothe Reverend Mr Michelee of Lavendon, County of Buckingham at the wages of five pounds a year. I enetered into his service at Lavendon three days before Old Michaelmas Day and continued in his service at Lavendon until Old Michaelmas day 1812 when I received the whole of my wages and left his service. I was absent about a fortnight at the end of which I relet myself to him by the week only and continued to serve him at Lavendon by the week until Michaelmas 1813. From that time until my mariage I served various masters by the week at Lavendon, In July 1814 I was married at Emberton Church, Bucks to my wife then Mary Philips by whom I have seven children - Samuel aged nineteen years, Mary Ann aged seventeen years, John aged fourteen years, Elizabeth aged twelve years, William aged seven years, Jason ages four years and Sarah aged two years and a half all of whom are now living with me as part of my family and have gained no settlement in their own right. After my marriage I continued to reside at lavendon until about six weeks ago when I came with my family to the parish of St Paul, Bedford whhere I am now residing. I have myself done no act to gain a settlement subsequent to my early hiring and service at lavendon and am now actually chargeable to St Paul, Bedford. Annotated: I Thomas Billing hereby certify that I will be answerable for any expense which may take place during the illness of James Watts now living in the parish of ST Paul, Bedford but belonging to the parish of Lavendon in the County of Buckingham. Also the sum of five shillings and sixpence with which the family have been relieved by the Directors of the House of Industry. 13 Nov 1834 Annotated: Not acted on.
