    Copy probate of the will of John Goodman of Husborne Crawley, gentleman: proved - bequeathing to his wife Elizabeth all her wearing apparel, ornaments and the bed and bedding she had brought to the marriage; - bequeathing to his wife use of household goods to the value of £30 after a fair valuation; the remainder being bequeathed to his daughter Elizabeth Goodman; - bequeathing to his brother Thomas of Hulcote, yeoman and his kinsman Richard Goodman junior of Flitwick, miller, £1,500 in trust as follows: (a) to be placed in government bonds and the interest paid to his wife for her life unless she insisted on receiving her dower in which case the annuity was to be cancelled; (b) after his wife’s death the interest to be paid to his daughter Mary Wilmer for her life; (c) on her death to call in the principal and divide it and the interest between Mary Wilmer’s children by her husband Richard as directed by Mary in her will or share and share alike in want of any such will; - before the inclosure of Husborne Crawley Mary Wilmer was entitled to a common right for one cow and at inclosure a plot of land was given to the testator in lieu of this, and added to his farm without specific allotment; the testator had lately bought land from Francis Showler allotted to him in lieu of a cottage and added that to the farm and the testator devised this latter piece of ground to his daughter Mary; - devising to Thomas and Richard Goodman two closes of land in Aspley Guise lately bought from William Granborough together with his mill, cottages and land in Flitwick in trust to receive rent which was to be given to Mary Wilmer for her life and, after her death, the land in Aspley Guise and Flitwick was to be devised to Sophia Wilmer, Henry Wilmer, Caroline Wilmer, Sarah Wilmer, Emma Wilmer and William Wilmer, her children as tenants in common; - devising to his daughter Elizabeth his cottage, leasehold mill, cottages and land in Salford; - devising to his daughter Elizabeth all his lands in Wavendon [Buckinghamshire] and the remainder of his lands in Aspley Guise, remainder to her children or, if she had none, to his daughter Ann Adkins, remainder to her children, the land chargeable with payment of a £10 annuity to the testator’s wife Elizabeth unless she insisted on receiving her dower in which case the annuity was to be cancelled; - devising to Ann Adkins his cottages and lands in Husborne Crawley (except the piece of land purchased from Francis Showler), remainder to her children, subject to an annuity of £34 per annum to Frances Granborough charged on land in Wavendon and Aspley Guise he had devised to his daughter Elizabeth, the idea being that Ann reimbursed the £34 to Elizabeth after Elizabeth paid it to Frances Granborough; - bequeathing £10 each to Thomas and Richard Goodman to buy mourning; - bequeathing and devising the residue of his estate to Ann Adkins whom he appointed sole executrix; - witnesses: Thomas Parker; Abraham Page; David Willis
