- Scope and ContentHerman Cohn of Birmingham (Warwicks) - he is a hawker and deals in all sorts of jewellery and watches. Yesterday he was at Eaton and saw William Townsend there. Townsend asked to look at a watch he had in his hand. Townsend immediately went off up a passage with the watch. He lost sight of him. When he saw Townsend agains he was running away as hard as he could. He called out "stop him". Henry Jackson who travels with him caught hold of Townsend. He went up, caught hold of Townsend and told him he should go before a constable. Townsend offered the watch back to him. He insisted he would take Townsend before a constable and Townsend put the watch into his pocket. Jackson went to fetch Price the policeman. He told Price to take Townsend into custody for stealing his watch. He is sure the watch produced is the one Townsend ran away with. The watch is worth about 12 shillings. Henry Jackson of Sunderland (Durham) - all that Cohn has said is correct.
