    James Yoxen of Cotton End in Cardington, labourer - he is employed by Mr Peck. Last Wednesday he hung the waistcoat the constable of Cardington has just taken from the prisoner's back in Mr Peck's chaff barn. From information received that morning about 8am he went to the chaff barn to look for the waistcoat and found it gone and another waistcoat hung in its place. He did not give the waistcoat to the prisoner or anyone else. Benjamin Peck of Cardington, farmer - yesterday morning July 17th the prisoner came to his house and asked for a night's lodging as he was in distress. He allowed Abbott to sleep in his chaff barn. He went to the barn that morning about 4.30am and found Abbott gone.
